I have taken it upon myself to be the custodian of the family tree. I have the Family Tree Maker software from last century (well nearly!) and I keep records of the known information and I am always trying to find out whatever else I can about our family. It is alleged that we are descendent from Benjamin Disraeli although the official records say his blood line died out at his death in 1881. However, apparently he had an illegitimate child with one of the servants in the Wyndham-Lewis employ where he used to be a frequent visitor and we are from that blood line.
My mum says that someone in our family once wrote a book that proved the connection but at the time it was banned from being published as it was said to have put Queen Victoria’s memory in a bad light, so needless to say I am looking forward to finding out more about that when we all get together for my Gran’s 90th birthday next year. My mum thinks there may even still be a copy somewhere in the family, if i find it i will post an update!
